Locality

Les Amis is situated in the picturesque village of Menetou-sur-Nahon just inside the region of Indre and close to the river Cher. The village itself is quiet and friendly and at last count had 112 inhabitants. You will regularly see around the house a large range of birds and animals including owls, birds of prey, red squirrels and on the evening walk, deer.

It is an ideal place from which to explore the Loire valley, with its unique chateaux and excellent vineyards.
Castles, medieval towns, caves, parks and rivers ensure that this region caters for every taste. Nearby zoos and a famous motor museum at Valencay as well as the Matra museum at Romorantin (charting the history of the company’s Le Mans wins) and further away adventure parks cater for all the family. The forests and lakes of Berry is a vast area to explore and an area of particular beauty and wildlife sanctuary.

The lovely town of Chabris is only five minutes drive away with its shops, cafes, restaurants and weekly market. There is also a useful large supermarket (Super U). Valencay is five miles away and a visit to one of the most beautiful French renaissance style chateaux is a must. The pretty town of Selles sur Cher with its large church is about 12km away.

The impressive chateaux of Chambord and Chenonceau are about 30 to 45 minutes drive away as are the medieval towns of Amboise and Blois with their chateaux and rich history. Local vineyards, restaurants, villages and festivals are well worth exploring along with various leisure activities including canoeing, golf, cycling and fishing.

A selection of tourist leaflets and brochures are available for you to look trough at your leisure but a visit to the tourist information centres at Chabris or Valencay will arm you with many more, as well as provide information of local events that are taking place. These will almost certainly include summer jazz festivals and sound and light displays at some of the chateaux.
